Welcome to TongueTied

On getting started.

We're glad you've joined the game!

You'll need:

An opponent. Invite a friend to play against you by starting a game, playing your first word, and sending your friend the link that pops up. You'll be notified once they've played their first word. The game continues asynchronously, at the pace you choose.

Pluck. You don't need to know all the languages of the games being played: you can play words in just one and still win. But you might want to experiment, especially as you'll have a few chances to get it wrong without losing your turn.

Curiosity. You'll discover the quirks of this game as you play it — features like bridge words, the double-click to change certain letters, the sweep, the swap, and the flip. If you feel lost, ask for help from the TongueTied bot in chat. Start those questions with "@tt".

Skepticism. No one agrees on the perfect dictionary for deciding which words are valid in which languages. You and your opponent can use chat to question calls, discuss them between yourselves, and ask @tt about a word's roots or how it is used in a sentence. We welcome suggestions for changes.

Otherwise, happy playing! And please let us know if there's a feature you'd like added — or if you have any other feedback.
