Terms of Service

Welcome to TongueTied. These terms govern your use of TongueTied (the “Service”) at tonguetied.app and any related pages. By creating an account or playing, you agree to these terms. “We,” “us,” and “TongueTied” refer to the operators of the project.

Eligibility

TongueTied is a general-audience word game. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are using TongueTied in a region with a higher minimum age for online services, you must meet that local minimum.

Your account

You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in method (email or Google account) secure. Don’t share your sign-in credentials and don’t let another person play under your account. One account per person, please.

How you agree to use TongueTied

We want TongueTied to be a fun, welcoming place to play. By using the Service, you agree not to:

• Cheat or manipulate game state outside of normal gameplay (for example by automating moves, using external tools to pick plays, or exploiting bugs to gain an unfair advantage).
• Harass, threaten, impersonate, or post hateful or discriminatory content to other players through chat, display names, or any other in-game text.
• Send spam, advertising, phishing attempts, or links to malicious content.
• Attempt to access other users’ accounts, private game state, or information you are not a party to.
• Probe, scan, stress-test, or otherwise interfere with the Service, its infrastructure, or other users’ ability to play.
• Use the Service to violate the law or the rights of others.

Content you post

You own the chat messages, display names, and other text you submit through TongueTied. By submitting this content, you give us a non-exclusive license to store, display, and transmit it solely to run the game for you and your opponents. You are responsible for what you write. We may remove content, suspend accounts, or delete games that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe harm other players.

Intellectual property

The TongueTied name, the TongueTied logo, and the software, code, designs, and content we create are owned by us. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our permission, except as permitted by law.

TongueTied is an independent multilingual word game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Hasbro, Inc., Mattel, Inc., or any other maker of board or tile games. Any similarity in gameplay concepts is coincidental or reflects design patterns common to the broader category of word games.

Deleting and suspending accounts

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger zone → Delete my account. If you need help with self-serve deletion, email privacy@tonguetied.app. We can suspend or terminate your account, remove content, or cancel games in progress if we believe you have violated these terms. We will act with as much restraint as we reasonably can.

Third-party services

TongueTied relies on third-party providers (see our Privacy Policy). When you sign in with Google, your use of Google is also governed by Google’s terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for third-party services’ availability or behavior.

No warranty

TongueTied is provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t guarantee the Service will always be available, error-free, secure, or that specific words will always be accepted by the dictionary. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability in any matter arising out of or related to these terms will not exceed one hundred US dollars (US$100).

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it. By using TongueTied you acknowledge that policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the Effective date above. For material changes, we’ll notify active users by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of TongueTied after a change means you accept the updated terms.
